Certably vs iCertifi
The short version
iCertifi has been going since 2011 and is the most established option in the category, with 6,919 App Store ratings. If you want the safest, most proven choice, it is a reasonable one. Certably launched on 5 August 2026 at £99 a year for BS 7671 work, and is heading for one app covering every trade — £149 a year against £576.95 for the same coverage bought separately. Today it does electrical only, and it is weeks old.

If you only do electrical, the gap is narrower but still real: £99 for Certably Electrical against £125.99 for the equivalent iCertifi plan — £26.99 a year. Whether that is worth switching for is a fair question, and the honest answer is that price alone probably is not the reason.
Where iCertifi is stronger
- Fourteen years in the market and by far the most reviewed app in the category — 6,919 ratings at 4.6 stars.
- A genuinely wide certificate range, including solar PV, EV and specialist forms Certably does not cover yet.
- A Mac app as well as iPhone and iPad.
- A support team, a phone number and a track record. That counts for a lot when a certificate is your livelihood.
Where Certably is different
- Each trade is a separate app on a separate subscription, and they do not share a customer or site record.
- Buying electrical, PAT, fire and gas separately comes to £576.95 a year at list prices.
- The Enterprise licence requires every engineer to sign in to the same Apple ID, so there are no individual logins to add or revoke.
- Remote Qualified Supervisor sign-off works by the QS pre-authorising their signature in Settings, which is then applied to certificates in the field.
Which one should you actually use?
Stay with iCertifi if
Electricians who want the most established option, need a certificate type Certably has not built yet, or work mainly on a Mac.
Try Certably if
You do BS 7671 work, want your certificates checked for problems before a client sees them, and object on principle to paying four subscriptions to one industry. It costs nothing to find out: download it, build a certificate and read the finished PDF before you pay anything. Certably is weeks old, so you are trading a track record for a lower price and a tighter workflow.
Being straight with you
Certably went on the App Store on 5 August 2026. It has no ratings yet and has not been tested by thousands of electricians the way iCertifi has. It issues eight BS 7671 certificates and nothing else — PAT, fire and gas are written but not released. Every layout is written against the current BS 7671 model forms and reviewed by a qualified engineer, but a checked layout is not the same as 15 years of use. If you need something proven today, buy the proven thing.
