Certably vs iCertifi

iCertifi has been going since 2011 and is the most established option in the category, with 6,919 App Store ratings. If you want the safest, most proven choice, it is a reasonable one. Certably is cheaper and puts every trade in one app rather than four — £149 a year against £576.95 for the same coverage bought separately. The trade-off is that Certably is new.

If you only do electrical, the gap is narrower but still real: £99 for Certably Electrical against £125.99 for the equivalent iCertifi plan — £26.99 a year. Whether that is worth switching for is a fair question, and the honest answer is that price alone probably is not the reason.
Where iCertifi is stronger
- Fourteen years in the market and by far the most reviewed app in the category — 6,919 ratings at 4.6 stars.
- A genuinely wide certificate range, including solar PV, EV and specialist forms Certably does not cover yet.
- A Mac app as well as iPhone and iPad.
- A support team, a phone number and a track record. That counts for a lot when a certificate is your livelihood.
Where Certably is different
- Each trade is a separate app on a separate subscription, and they do not share a customer or site record.
- Buying electrical, PAT, fire and gas separately comes to £576.95 a year at list prices.
- The Enterprise licence requires every engineer to sign in to the same Apple ID, so there are no individual logins to add or revoke.
- Remote Qualified Supervisor sign-off works by the QS pre-authorising their signature in Settings, which is then applied to certificates in the field.
Which one should you actually use?
Stay with iCertifi if
Electricians who want the most established option, need a certificate type Certably has not built yet, or work mainly on a Mac.
Try Certably if
You work across more than one trade and object to paying four times for it, you want your certificates checked for problems before a client sees them, or you want a QS to review the actual certificate rather than pre-authorise a signature. Certably is new, so you are trading a track record for a lower price and a tighter workflow.
Being straight with you
Certably is in build. It is not on the App Store yet, it has no reviews, and it has not been tested by thousands of electricians the way iCertifi has. Every certificate layout is checked against the current BS 7671 model forms by a qualified engineer before it can be issued, but a checked layout is not the same as fourteen years of use. If you need something proven today, buy the proven thing.
